Hard Skin Removal (Foot Callus)

Hard Skin Removal is a specialized foot care treatment performed in the warm, humid environment of our Turkish hammam — the ideal setting for this type of work, as the moisture and heat naturally soften the skin and make the process far more effective and comfortable than dry treatments.

Calluses and hard skin develop on the feet as a natural protective response to friction and pressure. Heels, the balls of the feet, and the sides of the big toes are the most commonly affected areas. While some callus formation is normal, excessive buildup can become unsightly, uncomfortable, and even painful — leading to cracked heels, pressure points, and difficulty wearing open shoes.

Our treatment begins with a warm foot soak in the hammam environment, allowing the hot, humid air and warm water to deeply soften the hardened skin layers. Once the skin is adequately softened, our attendant uses a natural volcanic pumice stone — the traditional tool used in Turkish baths for centuries — to gently and systematically remove the dead, hardened skin. The pumice is used with careful, controlled movements that remove buildup without damaging the healthy skin underneath.

For particularly stubborn calluses, a professional foot file may be used in conjunction with the pumice for more precise work. The treatment covers the heels, balls of the feet, toe edges, and any other areas of concern. After the hard skin is removed, a rich, nourishing foot cream is applied and massaged into the skin to seal in moisture and promote continued softness.
