About Turkish Bath Hammam (Scrub & Foam)
This treatment is a purification and renewal ritual that reflects the traditional Turkish hammam experience, a tradition stretching back over a thousand years to the great Ottoman bathhouses.
The journey begins with a warm shower to prepare the skin and body for the heat to come. You then move into the sauna (kuru sauna), where dry heat gradually raises your body temperature, promoting sweating and the natural release of toxins. After the sauna, you enter the steam room (buhar odasi), where humid warmth opens your pores deeply, supports easier breathing, and soothes tired muscles.
The heart of the ritual takes place on the heated marble stone (gobek tasi), the centerpiece of every authentic hammam. Here, an experienced hammam attendant (tellak) performs a full-body exfoliating scrub (kese) using a traditional coarse silk glove. This vigorous scrubbing removes layers of dead skin cells, stimulates blood circulation, and leaves the skin incredibly smooth and glowing. You will be amazed at how much dead skin is removed — it is a deeply satisfying and visible result.
Following the scrub, the attendant creates a rich, cloud-like foam from natural olive oil soap using a traditional cloth pouch (kopuk kesesi). The entire body is then enveloped in this warm, silky foam while the attendant performs a gentle full-body massage — kneading muscles, stretching limbs, and working tension out of every area. The sensation is both deeply relaxing and invigorating.
After the foam massage, you rinse off with warm and cool water, which helps close the pores and invigorate the skin. The entire ritual takes approximately 60 minutes. Swimming pool access and unlimited complimentary drinks (tea, water, soft drinks) are included with every Turkish bath package.
The Turkish bath is not just a cleaning ritual — it is a holistic experience for body, mind, and spirit. Guests consistently describe it as one of the most memorable experiences of their holiday.
